Introduction to the Packaging Control module
The module Packaging Control provides functions for the management, processing and tracking of packaging units. Packaging Control is fully integrated into the IAS infrastructure and supports the design and safeguarding of an individual packaging process.
Packaging Control contains the following components:
-
Service application (self-hosted in an additional Linux Docker container)
-
Client application (Windows application)
-
Integrated web application (self-hosted in an additional Linux Docker container)
-
Database application (Oracle)
Main Functions
-
Ensuring the business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-customer (B2C) packaging process so that the correct packaging material for the right products is packed in the requested quantity, completeness and quality for the customer
-
Flexible, adaptable and easy expansion or customization of the packaging process to meet individual customer requirements for their mandatory contracts regarding customer packaging and delivery.
-
Guiding the packaging operators (shop floor workers) through the packaging process and support them through hardware connectivity capabilities like scanning barcodes or DMCs and validating the packaging units' weight.
-
Providing tools and integrations for managing and printing of labels for the packaged goods and packaging units with dynamic content (i.e. quantities, materials, codes, etc.) acquired through the process.
-
Capture of all data generated during the packaging process for traceability purposes, provision of this data and, if necessary, transmit to third-party systems.
-
Seamless integration capabilities with other Nexeed IAS modules (i.e. Part Traceability for product traceability validation and documentation during packaging, etc.) to make the packing process even more flexible and secure and extensibility to integrate external ERP system via ERP Connectivity and other third-party systems via Orchestrator Engine.
