Introduction to the Material Management Module
The module Material Management is used to manage and trace material at production level.
The purpose is to ensure that only validated and well known material is used in production. Material Management handles material on package level and each package must have a material label, which contains a unique identifier (MAT_ID) for this package. This MAT_ID is to be stored in the Quality DB together with the product and the material has been built into. In case of a material revocation only the very affected products have to be recalled.
After the material is registered at Material Management, it will track the material package through the complete life cycle:
-
Setup of the material at a specific machine
-
Material Monitoring (Moisture Sensitive Device (MSD) handling)
-
Material Management (Adding/Removing blocks, changing the expiration date)
-
Track material consumption and prevent over consumption
-
Providing location based stock information
Material Management will block material based on various quality related attributes of the material. This will help to minimize the waste introduced by quality issues and lowers the failures costs of the value stream. In addition on keeping an eye on various quality related attributes of a material, Material Management provides the option to create rule based blocks. The blocks can be specified using the available attributes of a material e. g. the manufacturer, the batch, supplier etc.. That is used in case a supplier revokes material.
The registration of materials in Material Management could be done by scanning the labels or with automatic electronic data transfer through SAP.
Main Function
All functions of the Material Management module can be found under the Material Management menu via the following menu items:
-
-
Search for and display material data via label ID, material ID or other parameters
-
Call up information on material data: Details, blocks, MSD, material history and setup history
-
Adjust remaining quantity, re-qualified expiration date and exposure time
-
Manually remove from the current location
-
Manually block a material
-
-
-
Search for and display moisture-sensitive materials and their statistics
-
Search for and view the moisture-sensitive materials of a location (dry box or other protected area)
-
-
-
Display information about creating material data within INTEGMA processes.
-
-
-
View active monitoring processes
-
Start new monitoring processes
-
Trigger state transitions of material
-

Create and manage monitoring process definitions
-
Desktop Clients
In addition to the browser-based Material Management application, two desktop client applications are available:
-
Material InfoPanel
Lists moisture-sensitive materials (MSD) for a location by block status and expected usability.
-
Mat Climate Control
Lists the contents of a climate cabinet and is used for storing and removing moisture-sensitive materials in and out of this climate cabinet.
Roles and permissions
All modules of the Nexeed Industrial Application System are based on permissions. Depending on the permissions, different functions are available in a module.
To enable functions, the user is assigned a role based on the desired permission. Permissions are managed in the Multitenant Access Control module.
The standard configuration of the module includes the following roles:
-
Material Management User
-
Material Management Expert
-
Material Management Administrator
