Providing artifacts for roll-out

In order to assign software, large configurations, or entire device images to one or more devices, an Artifact Repository is required. The Artifact Repository can be provided by a device integrator (e.g. ctrlX CORE Brand Store) for the purposes of storing standard software in it, or can be set up in Microsoft Azure (e.g. for software developed in-company). As a result, the software is not stored in the Device Portal, but always with the person responsible for the software. The software can be used by several tenants at the same time. In addition, it is not necessary to upload the same software repeatedly — instead, it can be stored centrally and selected for the roll-out repeatedly.

The following section explains how to link an Article Repository to its tenant.

  • Requesting a Specific Article Repository

  • Connecting an Existing Artifact Repository to an In-Company Tenant

The Artifact Repository supports various sizes of artifacts, including small artifacts (up to 500 MB) and large artifacts (up to 4 GB). For large artifacts, also called setup files, please refer to How to manage artifacts with the Artifact Repository.

This guide describes how to provide each of these artifacts via the Article Repository.
