Performing a Tour

The following sections contain a systematic description of the performance of a tour.

Each tour consists of the following steps:

  1. Starting the Tour.

  2. Carry out the necessary sequence of steps for the activities at the start station:

    The sequence of steps for the activities at the start station or at the current station is displayed in the header. If there are multiple tasks in a step, the number of tasks is indicated by a number at the respective step.

    The current step and its name are shown in blue. Steps that are still to be performed at this station are shown in light blue with black text. Steps that do not need to be performed at this station are grayed out and skipped.

  3. Traveling to the Next Stop.

  4. Carry out the necessary sequence of steps for the activities at the next station.

    The driver will only be shown the steps that are necessary at the current stop. Steps that do not need to be performed are skipped.

    • Preparation

    • Unloading

    • Decoupling

    • Coupling

    • Load

    • Follow-up

  5. Go to step 3. Travel to the next station. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all the steps have been completed at the last stop.

The tour has been carried out and completed successfully.

Starting the Tour

Depending on the transport requirement ( Transport orders ) and tour planning ( Tour planning ), one of the following two scenarios is shown under Material flow > Material delivery :

No tour available

No tour is available for the selected vehicle at the time of logging on.

  1. To select another vehicle for a tour, continue with Select a vehicle and set the tour display.

    Or:

    To start a tour anyway, select a predefined route.

    Predefined routes are only displayed when On-demand tour is enabled in the vehicle’s tours settings.

    A new tour is calculated using the transport orders available in the system.

  2. To carry out the tour, tap Start.

An alternative tour will be started.

  • To follow the sequence of steps at the start station, continue with Performing Preparatory Special Activities.

Tour available

At the time of logging on, a tour with an immediate start time or with a start time in the future is planned.

The Name , the Departure time and the Time remaining before the tour must be completed are displayed. The following KPIs are displayed below the departure time:

  • Utilization
    Percentage utilization of the vehicle and trailers

  • Productivity
    Time ratio between the work steps at the stations (delivery, loading, coupling and decoupling) and the total duration of the tour (work steps + travel time)

  • Maximum schedule variance
    Maximum permitted delay on the tour

    1. To complete the tour, tap Start.

The tour will start at the start station.

  • To follow the sequence of steps at the start station, continue with Performing Preparatory Special Activities.

Performing Preparatory Special Activities

In this step, special activities must be performed at the current station before the next steps are taken. These are specified by operating instructions with a brief description of the activity to be performed.

  • Use back-left and forward-right to navigate between pages.

  • Use settings_grey to view the tour display settings.
    Select a vehicle and set the tour display

  • Use reset_grey to update the data.

    1. Implement instructions of the special activities.

      To report complications with a special activity, continue with Reporting a Problem.

    2. After successful implementation of the special activity, press Confirm to continue the tour.

The tour will continue and the next step will appear.

Unloading Material

During this step, material must be unloaded at the current station.

Depending on the configuration, either the Material description or the Transport order column (display of the transport order numbers as bar codes) is displayed.

The individual materials that need to be unloaded are displayed in a table.

  • Use back-left and forward-right to navigate between pages.

  • Use settings_grey to view the tour display settings.
    Select a vehicle and set the tour display

  • Use info-i-frame to display details of the individual order.

    1. Unload materials and confirm individually.

      Materials that have already been unloaded and confirmed may disappear from the list if the tour display is set to do this. To show all materials (unloaded and not unloaded) in the list again, click View all.

      To report complications when unloading the materials, continue with Reporting a Problem.

    2. After unloading the materials, continue the tour with Unloaded.

The tour will continue and the next step will appear.

Decoupling a Trailer

During this step, trailers must be decoupled from the vehicle at the current station.

The decoupled trailers can contain material or be empty.
The digits of the step indicator indicate how many of the existing transport orders are already present on the trailer.

The individual trailers that must be decoupled from the vehicle are displayed in a table.

  • Use back-left and forward-right to navigate back and forth between the pages.

  • Use settings_grey to view the tour display settings.
    Select a vehicle and set the tour display

  • Use info-i-frame to display details of the individual order.

    1. Decouple the trailers.

      To report complications while decoupling the trailers, continue with Reporting a Problem.

    2. After decoupling the trailers, continue the tour with Decoupling.

The tour will continue and the next step will appear.

Coupling a Trailer

During this step, trailers must be coupled to the vehicle at the current station.

The coupled trailers may contain material or may be empty.

The individual trailers that need to be coupled to the vehicle are displayed in a table.

  • Use back-left and forward-right to navigate between pages.

  • Use settings_grey to view the tour display settings.
    Select a vehicle and set the tour display

  • Use info-i-frame to display details of the individual order.

    1. Couple trailers to the vehicle.

      To report complications when coupling the trailers, continue with Reporting a Problem.

    2. If a transport order is to be rejected or scheduled later, change the status of the transport order with mdm_edit_icon.

    3. Select the desired status and confirm with Save.

    4. After coupling the trailers, continue the tour with Coupling.

The tour will continue and the next step will appear.

Loading Material

During this step, material must be loaded at the current station.

Depending on the configuration, either the Material description or the Transport order number column (display of the transport order numbers as bar codes) is displayed.

The individual materials that need to be loaded are displayed in a table.

  • Use back-left and forward-right to navigate between pages.

  • Use settings_grey to view the tour display settings.
    Select a vehicle and set the tour display

  • Use info-i-frame to display details of the individual order.

    1. Unload materials.

      To report complications while loading the materials, continue with Reporting a Problem.

    2. If a transport order is to be rejected or scheduled later, change the status of the transport order with mdm_edit_icon.

  • ies_radiobutton Load : The material is loaded according to plan.

  • ies_radiobutton Cancel : The material is rejected and not loaded. It remains at the station.

  • ies_radiobutton Schedule later : The material is not loaded and is to be loaded and transported to the destination on the next possible tour. The rescheduling is carried out automatically by Transport Management.

    1. After loading the materials, continue the tour with Loaded.

The tour will continue and the next step will appear.

Performing Final Special Activities

In this step, special activities must be carried out before leaving the current station. The special activities are specified by operating instructions with a brief description of the activity to be performed.

  • Use settings_grey to view the tour display settings.
    Select a vehicle and set the tour display

  • Use reset_grey to update the data.

    1. Implement instructions of the special activities.

      To report complications with a special activity, continue with Reporting a Problem.

    2. Once the special activities have been performed successfully, press Confirm to continue the tour.

The tour will continue and the next step will appear.

Traveling to the Next Stop

The instruction for the driver to travel to the next station may include different information for the driver, depending on the administrator’s settings.

Personal injury caused by vehicle entering (with trailer).
People can be crushed or run over by the moving vehicle, possibly with trailer. Only tap on Arrived when the vehicle has come to a standstill.

Damage to the vehicle (with trailer).
Lack of attentiveness on the part of the driver while driving may result in damage to the vehicle and trailer. Only tap on Arrived when the vehicle has come to a standstill.

tm_material_delivery_drive_to_station

Depending on the administrator’s configuration, the following information is displayed while driving to the next station:

  • Name of the station

  • Navigation on the map with arrows and destination

    • Use fullscreen or fullscreen-exit to switch to full screen mode or exit full screen mode respectively.

    • Use zoom-in-and-out to zoom into or out of the map.

  • Scheduled arrival time

  • Time remaining until the latest possible arrival.

  • Use settings_grey to view the tour display settings.
    Select a vehicle and set the tour display

  • Use reset_grey to update the data.

    1. Drive to the next station on the tour.

    2. Once the next station has been reached, tap on Arrived.

The first step of the sequence of activities to be performed at the station is displayed.
Once the tour is finished and no further stations need to be traveled to, a message indicating that the tour has been completed is displayed.
