Automatic TOs

The Transport Management module can use logical rules to determine whether it is necessary to create another transport order for a regular transport order.

All available automatic transport orders are displayed in the Material flow data > Automatic TOs.

Overview: Automatic TOs

To enable Transport Management to create automatic transport orders, rules are created with which Transport Management filters the regular transport orders.

Example:

When a regular transport order is executed, empty load units (empties) are located at the destination after the materials have been removed. If the criteria of a created rule for automatic transport orders match the regular transport order, Transport Management generates an automatic transport order for the removal of the empties.

Interface

Automatic transport orders can be triggered by regular transport orders or by EPCIS events. EPCIS events must be created on RFID readers. The created rules are listed in each case in a table.

There are two tabs in the Automatic TOs menu: Triggered by transport orders and Triggered by EPCIS events.

Creating a Rule for an Automatic Transport Order

Rules filter regular incoming transport orders based on four criteria:

  • Material number

  • Unit load type

  • Start (location, hall, station, storage location)

  • Destination (location, hall, station, storage location)

If all criteria of the rule and a regular transport order match, an automatic transport order is generated in accordance with the selected transport order template.

An additional transport order will be created according to the selected transport order template for all transport orders with the selected material number, the selected unit load type and the selected and precisely defined source and target location.

Prerequisite

Procedure

  1. In the Material flow data > Automatic TOs menu, select the Triggered by transport orders tab.

  2. Use add_border to open the New rule for automatic transport order dialog window.

    Or:

    In the row containing the required rule, press mdm_edit_icon to open the Automatic transport order - <Name> dialog window.

  3. Enter the following details: Description

    • Material number

      In the drop-down list, select a material number that is to be transported.

    • Unit load type

      From the drop-down list select a unit load type with which the material is to be transported.

    • Start

      Select from the drop-down lists the hall, station and storage location where the transport order starts.

    • Target

      Select from the drop-down lists the hall, station and storage location where the transport order ends.

      To use the drop down lists, select the start and destination in the sequence hall, station, storage location. It is possible not to specify a storage location or a station.

  4. Enter information about the transport order template:

    Multiple transport order templates can be assigned to each rule.

    • Use Templates for transport orders add_black to add a drop-down list for a transport order template.

    • Select a transport order template from the drop-down list.

    • To delete a drop-down list for a transport order template, click delete next to the drop-down list.

  5. Save the changes with Save.

The rule for an automatic transport order, triggered by a regular transport order, has been created or edited and appears in the table in the Triggered by transport orders tab.

Triggered by EPCIS events: Creating or Editing a Rule for an Automatic TO

EPCIS events are transport jobs that are created by RFID readers.

Rules automatically filter transport orders created by EPCIS events based on the EPCIS event number. If the EPCIS event number matches, an automatic transport order is generated in accordance with the selected transport order template.

Prerequisite

Transport management administrator role

Procedure

  1. From the Material flow data > Automatic TOs menu, select the Triggered by EPCIS events tab.

  2. Use add_border to open the New rule for automatic transport order (EPCIS) dialog window.

    Or:

    In the row containing the required rule, click mdm_edit_icon to open the Automatic transport order (EPCIS) - x dialog window.

  3. Enter the following details:

    • Description

    • EPCIS event number

    • Biz step

    • Dispatch

    • Read point

    • Kanban control cycle

    • Kanban ID

  4. Enter information about the transport order templates:

    Multiple transport order templates can be assigned to each rule.

    • Click Templates for transport order add_black to add a drop-down list for a transport order template.

    • Select a transport order template from the drop-down list.

    • To delete a drop-down list for a transport order template, click delete next to the drop-down list.

  5. Save the changes with Save.

The rule for an automatic transport order, triggered by an EPCIS event, has been created or edited and appears in the table in the Triggered by EPCIS events tab.

Creating a Rule for an Automatic Transport Order

Prerequisite

Role Transport Management Administrator

Procedure

  1. Select the Material flow data > Automatic TOs menu and the Triggered by transport orders or Triggered by EPCIS events tab.

  2. To delete a rule or an EPCIS event for the automatic transport order, in the row containing the rule or EPCIS event, click delete to open the Delete dialog window.

    Or:

    Open the Automatic transport order - <Name> dialog window with mdm_edit_icon and click Delete.

  3. To delete multiple rules or multiple EPCIS events for the automatic transport order, activate the checkboxes of the required rules or EPCIS events and click delete in the header.

  4. To delete all displayed rules or all displayed EPCIS events for the automatic transport order, activate the checkbox in the title bar of the table and click delete in the header.

  5. Click Delete in the dialog window to delete the automatic transport order permanently.

The rules of the EPCIS event for the automatic transport order are deleted and no longer appear in the Automatic TOs menu.

Searching for EPCIS Events

Rules for transport orders triggered by EPCIS events can be searched for based on their description.

The search term for the description can contain wildcards (asterisk).

Prerequisite

Role Transport Management Administrator

Procedure

  1. From the Material flow data > Automatic TOs menu, select the Triggered by EPCIS events tab.

  2. Enter the search term in the Description text box.

  3. Confirm the search with search.

The searched rules for transport orders that are triggered by EPCIS events appear in the table.

Filtering the Content of the Table

The content of the table can be filtered by column.

  1. From the Material flow data > Automatic TOs menu, select the Triggered by EPCIS events tab.

  2. In the header, click filter Filter to open the Filter dialog window.

  3. In the drop-down list, select the desired column titles to which the filter should apply.

    To the right of the drop-down list, a specific filter detail text box appears for each column title.

  4. In the respective filter details text box, enter the text by which you want to filter.

    In the drop-down list, a checkmark and delete appear after the column title that is being filtered.

    Use delete to delete a filter again.

  5. Activate the filter with Apply.

Only the rules triggered by EPCIS events containing the filtered texts appear in the table. The filter criteria appear below the header.

Use close to remove the individual filter criteria below the header.
