The user is logged on to the Web Portal.
Procedure
-
In the menu, click Master data management > Equipment > Devices.
The Devices tab appears with the following areas:

Device list (left-hand pane)

Working area (right-hand pane)
Devices menu

In the Devices tab, click
.
A menu appears with the following entries:

Show unknown devices
All unknown devices will be displayed.

Filter by device type
The Filter by device type dialog appears. Select one or more device types and click Add for filtering.
The devices view is filtered by device type.

Filter by tag
The Filter by tag dialog appears. Select one or more tags and click Add for filtering.

The devices view is filtered by tag.

Filter by Technical ID
The Filter by Technical ID dialog appears. Enter one or more technical IDs and press [ENTER]. Click Add to Filter.

Export device identifier
The data (name, ID and identifier) of all or just the filtered devices are written to a JSON file whose name must be entered.

Import Devices
The Import Devices dialog appears. Click Browse and in the file system select the CSV file to be imported.
It is not possible to re-import previously exported device information without adjustments.
Click Download Sample File to download a CSV template for importing device information.
The Device Name and Device Type ID fields in the CSV template are mandatory and must be filled out. All other fields are optional.
Click Import Devices.
The device information is imported.

Export Device Information
The Export Device Information dialog opens.
In the Available Columns column, select the fields to be exported and drag and drop them into or use the arrow keys to move them into the Selected Columns column.
Click the Details button to view a detailed export operation in real time and details of the exported rows.
Click Export to start the export and download a CSV file with the selected device information.
The device information is exported.
Create device

The Create Device dialog appears.

Enter details:
-
Enter the appropriate device type in the Device type text field. After entering one or more characters of a device type name, a list of all device types will be displayed which contain the relevant characters or the relevant character sequence. Select the suitable device type from the list.
Enter an asterisk (*) or question mark (?) to display the complete list of all device types or to use the character as a wildcard.

A unique device identifier can be entered in the Technical ID text field.

In the Name text field, enter the name.
-
In the Description text field you can enter a description of the device.

If properties have been created for the device type, they will be assigned to the new device and Properties will be displayed here. The values of the properties can be changed. The edited values only apply to the newly created device.

Click Add.
The new device appears in the selection list and is selected.
After clicking Add the device type and ID cannot be changed. Reason: Data consistency. |
Edit device

In the Devices tab, click a device.
The device is selected.

In the working area, click Details.
-
Click
.
The Edit device dialog appears.

Enter details:
The device type cannot be changed.
-
The appropriate device type can be edited in the Device type text field. Change the appropriate device type for the device from the list displayed.
-
The unique device identifier can be edited in the Technical ID text field.
-
In the Name text field, edit the name of the device.
-
In the Description text field, the description of the device can be edited.
-
If properties have been created for the device type, they will be assigned to the device and displayed in the Properties section. The values of the properties can be changed. The edited values apply only to this device.

Click Save.
The editing of the device is saved.
Delete device
-
In the Device tab, click a device.
The device is selected.

Click
.
The Delete device dialog opens.

Click Delete device.
The device is deleted and no longer appears in the device list.
Assign a facility to a device
-
Open the Master Data Management > Equipment menu.
-
Click on the Devices tab.
-
Click on the required device on the left.
The detail view opens.
-
In the detail view on the right, click on
Assign Facility.
The Assign Facility dialog opens.
-
Select the facility to be assigned.
Only one facility can be assigned to a device.
-
Click Assign.
The facility is assigned to the selected device.
Unassign a facility from a device
-
Click the required device in the Devices tab and click Details.
The assignment of facilities will be displayed in Facilities.

To unassign a facility in Facilities , click
.
The Unassign Facility dialog is displayed.
-
Click Unassign.
The facility is assigned to the selected device.
Edit properties value
-
Click the required device in the Devices tab and click Details.
The properties created for the device type are displayed in Properties.

To edit the value of a property, in Properties , click
in the row of the property to be edited.
The Edit property dialog is displayed.

Edit the value of the property.
-
Click Save.
The edited value applies only to this device. The volume of the property of the device type and the values of other devices are not changed.
The changed value is displayed in the list of properties.
Create, add and remove tags

Click the required device in the Devices tab and then click Details.
The tags which have already been assigned will be displayed in Available tags.

To add a tag, click Add tag.
The Available tags dialog appears.

Click Add to assign the tag(s) to the device.
The tag(s) is/are added to the device and will be displayed in Available tags.

Click
to create a new tag.
The Create tag dialog appears.
-
Enter details
Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory and must be completed.

In the Name text field, enter the English name of the tag.
-
Enter the tag names in the other supported languages in the Translations area.
-

Click Add to save the tag.
The tag will be created and will appear in the list of available tags.
To remove a tag, in Available tags click of the relevant tag.
Create, edit and remove identifiers

Click the required device in the Devices tab and click Details.
The identifiers that have already been assigned are displayed in the Identifiers section.

To create a new identifier, click Add Identifier.
The Add new Identifier dialog appears.

If a GIAI identifier is being created, activate the GIAI Machine identifier switch.
If a GIAI identifier is used, the Name text field will be pre-populated and cannot be changed.

Enter the English name of the identifier in the Name text field.
-
Define the Value :
-
GIAI identifier: Click the Search GIAI link and select a GIAI identifier from the Corporate Machine Registry (CMR) database.
The GIAI identifier is inserted in the Value text box after it has been selected.

Without GIAI identifier: In the Value text field, enter the value of the identifier.

Click Add to save the identifier.
The identifier is created and appears in the list of available identifiers.
To edit an identifier, in Identifiers , click in the row of the identifier you wish to edit, make the changes and save.
Display measuring points

In the Device tab, click a device.
The device is selected.

In the working area, click Measuring points.
The list of measuring points created for the device type will be displayed.

Display filters, searches and ID:
-
To find a device in the search box, enter one or more characters which make up part of the measuring point name.

Click Show ID to also show or hide the column containing the internal ID (e.g. cc393149-2e99-4597-8255-a5407e323f06).

Click Show unknown measuring point to configure measuring points from the list of unknown measuring points.

The desired measuring points are displayed.
Display error definitions

In the Devices tab, click a device.
The device is selected.

In the working area, click Error definitions.
The list of error definitions created for the device type will be displayed.

Display filters, searches and ID:

To find an error definition in the search box, enter one or more characters which make up part of the error number or error text.

Click Show ID to also show or hide the column containing the internal ID (for example cc393149-2e99-4597-8255-a5407e323f06).

The desired error definitions are displayed.
Display device type

In the Device tab, click a device.
The device is selected.

In the working area, click Device type.
The name of the device type of the device and a link to the device type will be displayed.
The device type is displayed. The properties of the device type can be opened via the link in the right-hand column. Device types
