Glossary

Agent

The AI assistant of the Smart Operations Toolkit. It answers questions and performs tasks through a chat. Full name: Shopfloor Performance Management Agent (SPM Agent). See Agent Chat.

API

Abbreviation for Application Programming Interface. The Smart Operations Toolkit provides REST APIs. See APIs and AI integration.

Context ID

Identifier of the purpose of an email notification, for example cm-rule-triggered for rule events. Together with the language, it selects the template. See Email templates.

Device

A machine or a piece of equipment that sends data, for example a milling center. A device has exactly one device type and can be assigned to a facility. See Devices.

Device type

A kind of device, for example a machine model. It defines the measuring points that every device of this type has. See Device types.

Deviation

A process with the result NOK.

Event

Record that a rule creates when the measured values meet its condition. An event has a severity, a time, the evaluated value and the threshold. See Events.

Facility

A location in the plant structure: enterprise, site, area, production line, work cell or equipment module. Facilities form a hierarchy. See Plant structure.

MCP

Abbreviation for Model Context Protocol. Open protocol through which AI agents use the functions (tools) of an application. See MCP servers for AI agents.

Measured value

A value that a device sends continuously for a measuring point, for example a temperature. See Measured values.

Measuring point

A value that a device measures or reports, for example a temperature in °C. A measuring point has a name, a unit and a type (device or process). See Measuring points.

NOK

Abbreviation for "not OK". Result of a process or part that does not meet the requirements.

Occurrence

Number of values in the window of a rule that must meet the condition before the rule triggers.

OPP

Abbreviation for Open Production Protocol. Message format for process data. See Sending process data.

Part ID

Identifier of a single part or work piece that was processed.

Part Type ID

Identifier of the product type of a part.

Permission

Right to perform an action, for example devices:write. Permissions are assigned to users and technical clients. Also called role. See Permissions.

Process

One production step for one part, for example one tightening. A process has a result, a program and curves. See Process analysis.

Rule

Condition on the measured values of a measuring point. When the condition is met, the rule creates an event. Rule types: upper bound, lower bound, jump, static tolerance check, trend. See Monitoring with rules.

Severity

Importance of an event: warning or error.

Special value

Point of interest of a process curve that the device reports, for example the shut-off point.

Technical client

Account of a machine, a connector or an application, as opposed to a user. Technical clients get access tokens with the client credentials flow. See Authentication.

Technical ID

Identifier of a device that the machine uses when it sends data. It must be unique within the tenant. See Mapping to your configuration.

Template

Subject and body of an email notification for one context ID and one language, with placeholders such as {{.device}}. See Email templates.

Tenant

A customer or an organization that uses the Smart Operations Toolkit. The data of every tenant are stored separately.

Threshold

Limit value of a rule, for example the warning threshold of an upper bound rule.

Window

Set of values that a rule evaluates together: a number of values (sample window) or a time span (time window).

Glossar

Abweichung

Ein Prozess mit dem Ergebnis NOK.

Agent

Siehe Messwerte.

NOK

Siehe Authentifizierung.

Teile-ID

Kennung eines einzelnen bearbeiteten Teils oder Werkstücks.

Teiletyp-ID

Kennung des Produkttyps eines Teils.
