Weight Validation
As of PackagingControl version 3.11, there are two types of weight validation:
-
Validation of the weight increase per part and total weight of the packaging
-
Permanent Weight Discrepancy Determination
Weight Increase and Total Weight
The weight increase and/or the total weight of the packing unit can be checked during the packing process before the unit can be packed.
Check weight increase
Specifying the WeightGain type data variable means that the weight increase is checked per aggregation (e.g. packing part in box) and further progress is interrupted until the validation succeeds.

Record tare weight
If the higher-level packing unit is empty, the tare weight is calculated when packing the first sub-packing unit. The weight must be at rest, i.e. stable, and must not fluctuate. The tare weight is only relevant for weight increases and is only requested for this purpose.

If the connected scales show fluctuations when recording the tare weight, this will be signaled accordingly and it will not be possible to confirm the dialog. The time until which it is automatically closed is reset.

Check total weight
Specifying the Weight type data variable means that the system checks the total weight of the relevant packing unit (box or pallet) before the packing process is completed, and validates it in line with the definition.

Permanent Weight Discrepancy Determination
The deviation of the expected weight of the packaging unit against the actual weight can be checked during the packaging process.
The other functionalities of the weight validation (increase in weight and total weight) remain unaffected.
Example procedure :
-
The user scans three parts for packing.
-
The third part is removed without permission.
-
The permanent weight discrepancy determination raises an alarm.
The permanent weight discrepancy determination is performed in the background.
If an unauthorized weight discrepancy is detected, a warning is displayed and the application is blocked:

A user with administration rights can release the block it and acknowledge the deviation.
If the user logged in has no corresponding rights, a login window appears:

As soon as a user with appropriate rights is logged in, the weight discrepancy dialog with information about the deviation appears:

The user must specify a reason for the discrepancy.
As soon as the weight is correct, packing can continue (confirm).
The PackageWeight must be configured in order to use the background monitoring for the weight discrepancy (exceptions may apply for workflows). |
