Counter definitions tab

The counter definitions with the associated values are displayed in the Planning & control > ID Builder menu in the Counter definitions tab. Counter definitions can be created and edited. Counter definitions are required in order to be able to create counters. If a shift-based counter definition is reset, the shifts must be created in the Shift tab. The details of the counter definition are displayed when an entry is selected in the table. Counter definitions can be filtered in the display.

Search search

Search for counter definition.

Enter the name of the counter definition in full or in part.

add_border

Create counter definition.

Name

Name of the counter definition

Start value

Smallest permissible start value of the counter

Default: Attachment 1

End value

Largest permissible end value of the counter

Default: 999,999,999,999,999,999

Increment value

Value that is added to the counter at each increment

Default: Attachment 1

Increment

delay

Delay in increase

Specifies how often a counter returns the same counter reading before the counter is incremented with the increment value.

mdm_edit_icon

Edit counter definition.

delete

Delete counter definition.

Create counter definition

Prerequisite

Expert or Administrator role

Procedure

  1. Call up the Planning & control > ID Builder > Counter definitions tab.

  2. Create counter definition with add_border.

  3. Enter Name.

  4. Enter Start value and End value.

  5. Enter the Increment value and Increment delay.

  6. Select Overrun type from the drop-down list.

    Determines the behavior of the counter when it exceeds the End value : * Continue with the start value of the counter

    + If the end value is exceeded, the counter is reset to the Start value.

    • Cancellation with error

      If the end value is exceeded, an error message is output and the counter is incremented further.

  7. Select Reset type from the drop-down list.

    Determines the time of the automatic reset of the counter to the Start value : * No automatic reset * Reset at the beginning of a year (local system time) * Reset at the beginning of a month (local system time) * Reset at the beginning of a week (local system time) * Reset at the beginning of a day (local system time) * Reset at change of shift (shift time)

    + The counter is reset when a new shift starts. Shifts are created in the Shifts tab.

    + Shifts tab

    • Reset at the beginning of a year (UTC time)

    • Reset at the beginning of a month (UTC time)

    • Reset at the beginning of a week (UTC time)

    • Reset at the beginning of a day (UTC time)

  8. Select Time base from the drop-down list.

    Determines the change of day of the automatic reset: * The change of day takes place at midnight

    + A new day starts at midnight in the selected time zone.

    • The change of day is at the first shift of the day

      A new day starts from the first created shift in the Shifts tab.

  9. Create counter definition with Save.

The counter definition is displayed in the Planning & control > ID Builder > Counter definitions tab. The counter definition can be selected when creating a new counter.

  • To create a counter with the counter definition, continue with Create counter.

  • To create a shift for resetting the counter definition, continue with Create shift.

Edit counter definition

Prerequisite

Procedure

  1. Call up the Planning & control > ID Builder > Counter definitions tab.

  2. Open counter definition with mdm_edit_icon.

    Or:

    Select counter definition from the table.

  3. Enter Name.

  4. Enter Start value and End value.

  5. Enter the Increment value and Increment delay.

  6. Select Overrun type from the drop-down list.
