Migration from previous versions
The MDM migration is performed automatically when a new version is started for the first time. Generally there is no user intervention needed when upgrading MDM.
Each MDM service automatically migrates its database:

If a migration error occurs then the affected service will not start and a log message will provide details for the failed migration.

The migration is attempted again at every service restart until it completes successfully
