How to access the cluster and pods

Since operating SOT includes managing a large number of kubernetes objects, it is recommended to use a user interface, either graphical or menu-based, instead of the kubectl client.

There are lot of tools available: lens, k9s, kubernetes dashboard, rancher etc.

Our recommendation is to use k9s.

K9s usage

Use K9s to get detailed view about the resources in the cluster by following command.

Please refer to K9s commands.

Useful command usage hints for beginning:

# list all available CLI (command line interface) options
k9s help
# get info about K9s runtime (logs, configs, etc..)
k9s info
# run K9s in a given namespace
k9s -n {namespace-name}
# run K9s and launch in pod view via the pod command
k9s -c pod
# start K9s in a non-default KubeConfig context
k9s --context {context-name}
# start K9s in readonly mode with all modification commands disabled
k9s --readonly
