CSV import type group and types

Prerequisites

  • Administration: Admin role

  • The Type Groups and Types tab opens. Type Groups and Types tab

Procedure

  1. Click import CSV import.

    The CSV import dialog opens.

    The dialog gives you the option to download an example CSV file to check the file format.

  2. Drag and drop the CSV file into the designated area or click to open the file selection dialog of the operating system.

  3. Select the CSV file to be imported in the file system.

    Only one file may be selected.

  4. Click Open.

  5. Click Import.

    The CSV file is imported (uploaded).

    The CSV import dialog opens and informs you about the result.

The type groups and types defined in the CSV file (type numbers and, if applicable, variants) have been imported.

CSV file format

  • TypeGroup

    • mandatory

    • alphanumeric

    • up to 80 characters

    • leading and trailing spaces are ignored

    • semicolon (;) within type group name is not allowed (used as column separator)

  • TypeNumber

    • optional when only type group is to be created, otherwise necessary

    • alphanumeric

    • up to 80 characters

    • can include wildcards (see below)

    • leading and trailing spaces are ignored

    • semicolon (;) within type number is not allowed (used as column separator)

  • TypeVariant

    • optional

    • alphanumeric

    • up to 80 characters

    • can include wildcards (see below)

    • leading and trailing spaces are ignored

    • semicolon (;) within type variant is not allowed (used as column separator)

  • The first line of the file must contain the corresponding column names.

  • Columns are separated by a semicolon (;).

  • Empty lines are not allowed.

  • Every line must contain a value for all columns defined in the first line (if optional columns are not used, they must be left empty, use trailing semicolon (;)).

  • Type number/variant combination must be globally unique, i.e. within the CSV file and within all existing type groups

  • Use the '%' character as a wildcard for one or more arbitrary characters for type number and/or the type variant.
