Scopes tab

Use the Scopes tab to manage scopes, which consists of configuring, adding, deleting and testing scopes that connect to the databases.

Chose a Scope to SetupSpecs to have connection to the database.

If no specific Scope exists, Setup Specs selects Default Scope automatically. If multiple Scopes are available, select the preferred scope at the start. Refer to the introduction page on selection of the initial scope selection.

Click on setsp_select_scope_2025.01 in the header on the Setup Specs UI to select a scope faster without navigating to Scopes tab.

Select scope

Procedure

  1. Open the Product & Quality > Setup Specs menu entry.

  2. Click on the Scopes tab.

  3. Click on down in the row of Scope dropdown menu to see the list of available scopes.
    The dialog window opens.

  4. Click on an available scope.

  5. Click on Confirm.

The scope was selected and a success message is shown.

The following error message appears when the selected scope cannot connect to the database:

Connection failed. Please use another scope.

In this case, the created scope is not selectable.

See test scope for testing the database connection.

Add scope

Procedure

  1. Open the Product & Quality > Setup Specs menu entry.

  2. Click on the Scopes tab.

  3. Click on add_border next to List of Scopes.
    The dialog window opens.

  4. Enter data in the Add New Scope window.

  5. Click on Add.

The scope was added and a success message is shown.

Test scope

Prerequisites

Scope exists.

Procedure

  1. Open the Product & Quality > Setup Specs menu entry.

  2. Click on the Scopes tab.

  3. Click on setsp_scope_test_connection_2025.01 on the Add New Scope dialog window.

The test is successful when the database connectivity is successful. The test fails when the database connectivity is not successful. Update the username, password, and connection string and try again.

The scope was tested and a success message is shown.

Delete scope

Prerequisite

Scope exists.

Procedure

  1. Open the Product & Quality > Setup Specs menu entry.

  2. Click on the Scopes tab.

  3. Click on delete in the row of the scope.

  4. Confirm with Delete.

The scope was deleted and a success message is shown.

The Default scope is not deletable.

Search scope

Prerequisite

Scope exists.

Procedure

  1. Open the Product & Quality > Setup Specs menu entry.

  2. Click on the Scopes tab.

  3. Click on delete under List of Scopes or directly into the search box.

  4. Type characters to search for the scope.

The scope was found and a success message is shown.
